oh well..... doctor who aquired... missus n daughter happy.... ill go run a couple more scans on me puter now
(yeah i know i could have just used a vpn thingie but iplayer was being a bitch about it)

Being a member of high-quality private torrent trackers goes a long way.

It’s always exciting to visit those sites.

it does... my brother does that... for all his anime needs... i think his site requires him to keep minimal share ratio of 2.0 for every torrent
i just casually run the gauntlet every now and then when all else fails

that’s one way to put it

Malwarebytes Premium blocks off a lot of stuff.

It help s to be super vigilant. I can usually tell what links are legit from the start. And anyone who is trying to pass off an exe as a torrent file gets immediately burned.

I don’t use it much anymore either. When I do I VPN and test the file on a virtual machine.

Once in a while I’ve been lucky to find exactly what I want. I wanted the seasons of Once Upon A Time because the DVR we had died and I lost all the episodes I’d recorded. Turns out someone put up torrents of all the seasons to that point. Hooray!
Most of the time thought, torrent sites are a bust and hardly worth the effort.

i probably should have done that
oh well.. got away with it :)

Yes I think they only have season 1-3, maybe 4. I don’t think they get to the Amy Pond years.

used to be.. i’d torrent any every movie i could find... then netflix came along and i figured.... eh... i’ll wait
(course used to be i was stuck at home on me tod smoking weed too and my entertainment requirements were a lot higher than they are now)

Thoughts on running things in Sandboxie?

With Netflix, there isn’t as big a need to torrent stuff. I still do it from time to time if it’s something not on netflix.

Updated Chrome and Windows Defender do a surprisingly good job.
I honestly haven’t had any malware with Windows 10. Gone are t he days of Windows being a totally insecure dumpster fire.

We have Netflix now, and I have access to more than I need, including that series I downloaded.

i had a halfarsed attempt at a hijack... but pulling the plug from the interwebs allowed me to kill it (it was one of those that just constantly refreshes itself so you cant kill it whilst connected)

I’ve never had a problem torrenting in Linux.

I don’t have any personal experience with Sandboxie, but it looks good at a glance except that is costs money, haha.
I just use a virtual box VM that is not connected to the network to test stuff.

Video files are less concerning. I just check the comments and make sure to only download the video file and none of the other bs that often comes with it. You know the little notepad signatures from every one of the dozen torrent sites it’s passed through.

I’ve been pretty lucky, but I also have found some very reliable sources.
